We spent four nights at the Old Hall, which has a stunning location overlooking a bend in the River Severn, with a view of the Wrekin in the distance. We stayed in the Powder Room overlooking the front garden. It is tastefully furnished with a very comfortable king size bed, a spotlessly clean ensuite bathroom and, in addition to tea and coffee making facilities, a small fridge stocked with bottled water and fresh milk which we also used for our purchases of Shropshire cheese. Breakfast is served in the sunlit conservatory with a view of the river and the beautiful garden surrounding the house. The full English breakfast included locally-sourced sausages and bacon, and there were plenty of veggie options too. Robin and Louise were perfect hosts, making us feel very welcome and taking care to ensure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. We enjoyed comparing notes with them on places to eat in Shrewsbury and appreciated their suggestions on interesting churches and other places to visit in the vicinity. We were unable to do as much walking as we would have liked due to the weather, so will have to return to this part of Shropshire sometime. When we do, we will very much look forward to staying at the Old Hall again.
Andrew & Liz, March 2024
Robin and Louise are very likeable , warm and engaging people and this is immediately evident when they greet their guests. They are are wonderful hosts who always have time to provide help and advice but are not intrusive. Their standards are exceptionally high from Molton Brown soap and shampoo in the immaculate bathroom to the locally sourced products used to prepare the delicious breakfasts. The grounds are large, immaculate and very interesting. Old Hall is well located to allow visits to the many nearby attractions, particularly Shrewsbury town. Anyone who stays here will quickly realise what a wise decision they have made, and will vow to return. Considering the standard of accommodation it is exceptionally good value.
Steve & Carol, March 2024
Wonderful weekend away. Robin and Louise are very friendly hosts and seem to have thought of everything, so you can just relax in comfort. The views from the hall and garden are simply stunning. Being able to explore the gardens and woodland was a real plus when staying with a dog.
Julie & Garth, November 2023
Having read the reviews when we booked we did have high expectations so we were delighted that our experience was every bit as good, if not better than expected. Robin and Louise were very welcoming and were able to advise on local pubs and walks. They also recommended a visit to a Christmas market in nearby Much Wenlock, including bus details to avoid the need to take the car as parking was likely to be limited - great advice and we thoroughly enjoyed the market on a crisp winters day. Old Hall Cressage has been lovingly restored with superb guest rooms and even a beautiful lounge for guest use. Extensive gardens lead down to the River Severn and in the distance you get a great view of the Wrekin, which I imagine will be even better in the summer. Lastly, the breakfast choice, with plenty of local produce, was superb!
We really want to visit again and to enjoy it in the summer.
Martin & Inge, December 2023
Wonderful B&B with such gardens & views that make return visits inevitable. We liked: the property; the story; the history; the views; the room; the facilities; the gardens. Lovey inspiring place with friendly & helpful hosts.
John and Margaret, November 2023
We recently had the pleasure of staying at Old Hall Cressage . From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the hotel's excellent location, impeccable service, and pristine cleanliness.
In addition to the scenic views the hotel provides convenient access to everything we wanted to explore and is only a short drive from historic Shrewsbury
The hosts, in particular, were exceptionally welcoming, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home..
David and Yolla, November 2023
A beautifully located accomodation with brilliant service throughout my stay. The hosts have paid a lot of attention to detail which made the stay relaxing and homely. The hosts were extremely knowledgeable about the local area and were able to provide a plethora of recommendations for things to do that would suit all tastes.
April, November 2023
We had a two night stay at this delightful venue. The House and gardens are marvellous. The room was spacious and super comfortable with a great view over the river. The hosts were welcoming and friendly and had good advice about local things to do. Attingham house (National Trust) is less than 15 mins by car. We would definitely go back.
Michael & Shelagh, November 2023
A characterful, beautifully furnished and immaculately kept house, set in lovely grounds overlooking the river Severn. Our room was very spacious and comfortable with a panoramic view. An excellent breakfast of locally sourced fresh produce, cooked to order. Robin and Louise are very charming and friendly hosts. We would definitely stay here again.
Esme and Judith, November 2023
As near to perfection a luxury Bed and Breakfast stay could possibly be. Absolutely Fabulous ! Beautiful location with breathtaking views across Shropshire. Generous sized bedroom with luxury furnishings, fittings and facilities. Fabulous cooked breakfast. Absolutely spotlessly clean.
Nigel & Mandy, November 2023
Fantastic sojourn in incredible location and accommodation. Very relaxing and welcoming visit to the beautiful home of Robin and Louise in a stunning location. Extremely comfortable room and our dog was made very welcome. The breakfasts were well prepared using quality local ingredients and definitely took our stay to another level. We will be back at the first opportunity.
Richard and Gill, October 2023
Relaxing and luxurious bed and breakfast in a beautiful setting. Another wonderful break at Old Hall, with Robin and Louise's warm hospitality more than making up for the soggy countryside, post Storm Babet. We still managed plenty of walking and sightseeing and sampled a couple more recommended local places to eat. Particularly enjoyed the Mill at Leighton, friendly and generous portions. It is rare for us to revisit a holiday place, but we'll continue to make an exception for this gem, only two hours from our busy lives and a fabulous spot for well needed relaxation.
Rob & Carolyn, October 2023
We stayed here back in August and it was just perfect, beautiful property in a beautiful setting. Robin was so welcoming and attentive, I would highly recommend this place and hope to stay again one day.
Alisha and Kane, October 2023
This year we planned an autumn break in Shropshire and, looking on the web for a B&B, discovered the Old Hall at Cressage. It looked good, promising everything we needed. It turned out to be much better than good, giving us everything we thought we needed and more. The Wrekin room was spacious with a wonderfully comfortable bed, an excellent en-suite, quality TV, fridge, a cafetière, and of course wonderful views. Plus excellent breakfasts, a spacious guest lounge and gardens a pleasure to explore. Robin and Louise have anticipated the needs of guests with good design and everything of the highest quality. It was a joy to stay there: we hope to return.
Brian and Anne, October 2023
Robin and Louise are wonderful hosts who open up their home to you and want you to feel relaxed and at home, which they do. We received a very warm welcome on arrival including a delicious cake. Beautiful home and garden, overlooking the river Severn. We stayed in the Powder room, which is a stylish and comfortable room, with a very luxurious shower en-suite. We highly recommend staying here and will definitely be back. Plenty of lovely pubs and restaurants within a short drive for an evening meal.
Brett and Dianne, October 2023
A truly impressive place to stay, perfect in every way from the fabulous location to the impeccable service. The Old Hall is steeped in history and a perfect place to enjoy the peace and tranquility of Robin and Louise's large delightful garden, which is well worth exploring. Our room was very spacious with a spectacular view of the Wrekin and the River Severn. It offered us every luxury we could possibly require from a large comfortable bed to a huge walk-in rain shower. Crisp bedlinen and large fluffy towels added to the experience. Tea and home made cake on our arrival together with a brilliant breakfast ensures that this B&B stands out from many others.
Robert and Sarah, September 2023
Perfect stay. We loved the location and the breakfasts were wonderful.
Peter and Sheila, September 2023
House, gardens, and general location were wonderful. Hosts (Robin and Louise) were very friendly, accommodating and made the house feel like home. Guest room (Oak Room) was spectacular, furnished to a very high standard, well equipped and decorated in a way that perfectly complemented the history of the house. All guest areas were spotlessly clean and very well furnished. Gardens were wonderful.
Ian and Tracy, September 2023
An extremely warm welcome with homemade cake and tea on the patio overlooking extensive and beautiful gardens. Luxurious en-suite bedroom and delicious breakfasts. Louise & Robin are the perfect hosts. The breakfast was delicious with ample choice and lovely presentation served in the breakfast conservatory with an exceptional view of the Wrekin.
Richard & Pam, September 2023
Louise and Robin are fabulous hosts. The accommodation is amazing. The location is beautiful. Five stars.
Robin & Karen, September 2023
Beautiful property in superb location, over looking the River Severn and surrounding picturesque countryside. Louise and Robin are the perfect hosts nothing is too much trouble, they provide a great breakfast and a wealth of local knowledge on where to visit. The property is spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and stands in immaculate gardens and woodland. Every detail has been thought of. This is undoubtedly the best B and B we have ever stayed in, and there have been quite a few.
Ian & Eileen, September 2023
My partner and I booked our stay at the Old Hall cressage and we had the oak room. Words can not describe enough how blown away we were by everything about this place. We were greeted by Robin who was very pleasant and made us feel welcome and at home straight away. When we arrived at our room we were just wowed by the cleanliness, attention to detail and well equipped very large room. Not a single complaint to be had. The gardens surrounding the property are of extremely high standard and very well thought out and again we were blown away by the beauty of it all. The views from our room were breathtaking, looking over the river Severn and the gardens. The breakfast was delicious and had a nice selection of locally sourced produce. Nothing was too much for Robin who was an excellent host and works hard to make your stay that extra bit special. We are very much looking forward to our next stay. Thank you so much for making our weekend one to remember.
Chris & Sara, September 2023
Liked absolutely everything from our hosts Robin and Louise to their magnificent home, beautiful rooms and views and access to their wonderful gardens and last but not least the gorgeous breakfast. Can’t wait to go back, and a big thank you to Robin and Louise for being so helpful and informative.
Jeremy and Sonia, August 2023
We loved absolutely everything. Fabulous location and idyllic setting. Hosts were wonderful. We hope to go back.
Russell & Barbara, August 2023
We had a very relaxing stay and would definitely return if visiting the area again. Upon arrival, we were given a warm welcome by the owner who served tea and cake in the guests living room. A lovely, quiet location with gardens overlooking the River Severn. We had a lovely room with all the facilities we expected. Very clean, a comfortable bed and a splendid breakfast.
Graham & Barbara, August 2023
Although we have stayed at some magnificent private homes, this ranks as the most beautiful of all. A truly historic house bedecked with information and reminders of its past, including a complete history written by the owner, it would be good enough to visit as a house in its own right. We stayed in the Wrekin room overlooking the iconic hill of the same name and a picturesque bend in the River Severn. It is impossible to think of anything that could be bettered. Highlights included a very large, comfortable bed, fantastic shower, high end toiletries, superb range of teas and coffees, cafetière, chocolate treats and a small fridge with fresh milk. This list could go on. There was a lovely choice of breakfast food served in a garden room overlooking the immaculately kept garden/estate. Particular favourites were a home-made compote and the fact that all food was of the highest quality and made to order. The garden has views over and access to the riverbank, with many delightful places to sit, including even a gazebo with overhead heating (wonderful for an evening drink!). There is a large and interesting pond and much bird life including kingfishers on the river. Robin and Louise are the most thoughtful and attentive hosts and you soon find that nothing is too much trouble. We have lost count of the superb places that they have recommended to visit and eat on the two visits that we have had here (Rhubarb at Drapers Hall in Shrewsbury was superb). We cannot thank them enough for allowing us to briefly share their beautiful home
Colin & Chris, August 2023
An excellent couple of days at the Old Hall, Cressage, Shropshire. A leisurely breakfast in the conservatory looking out over their well-kept, extensive garden with an amazing view of the River Severn. We were made to feel very welcome. Having made sure that we had everything we needed, Robin & Louise kept a low profile, allowing us to enjoy their beautiful home & wander around the grounds.
Jacky & David, August 2023
Fabulous location with amazing view of countryside and River Severn set within beautiful gardens. Great spacious clean & comfortable room with everything that you need for your time there (Toiletries, robes & slippers, tea/coffee and other refreshments). There is also the use of a beautifully appointed sitting room to have a tea and enjoy the view. Hosts were welcoming, friendly and provided a great breakfast with choices. Would highly recommend Old Hall Cressage as a place to stay and will be returning ourselves if in the area.
Mark & Carla, August 2023
Tranquil. Beautiful gardens with river views. Great facilities. Faultless.
Peter & Cathy, August 2023
Lovely property in a beautiful location. Very warm welcome from hosts. Tasty breakfast.
Melissa & Martyn, July 2023
Excellent short stay. Great location, beautiful property , very clean and comfortable. Tasty breakfast with stunning views.
Gavin, July 2023
This is a lovely home with gorgeous gardens and decor - view from our room at rear on 2nd floor was beautiful to River and Wrenkin mountain, and overlooking beautiful flower gardens. Robin and Louise are very gracious and helpful hosts. Breakfast was the tops, individually catered to your choices and tastes. The bed was the most comfortable of the last 5 weeks we’ve been touring - wish we had it at home. Modern bathroom was spacious with great water pressure and ample hot water. Enough outlets and good lighting. Comfortable seating in the room, and setups for hot drinks. Really enjoyed the apricot gluten free cake on arrival - one of the best gluten free treats I’ve had, and considerate of the hosts to make it for me. The guest living room downstairs by breakfast room was a nice place to relax - full of light, homey, good reading materials. Highly recommend a stay here.
Glenna & Marsha, July 2023
On a weekend tour around the museums of Ironbridge (15 minute drive away), we had booked The Old Hall as our base, staying in the Oak Room. How pleased we were with that decision. Simply the finest B+B we have ever stayed in, in 35 years of travelling. Five star attentive hosts, delicious food, exquisite finishing touches in the room: beautiful bedding, Molten Brown toiletries, and fresh flowers picked from Robin and Louise's garden (which blew us away) on the banks of the River Severn. What a haven of luxury to return to each evening, especially on a wet weekend. A rare gem!
Paul & Susan James, July 2023
A beautiful location with magnificent gardens for guests to enjoy. Nothing was too much trouble for our host who spent lots of time answering our questions about the history of the house. There was nothing lacking for the comfort of guests.
Christine & Dave, July 2023
Beautiful home, full of heritage, friendly host, highly recommended. Breakfast was delicious, good choice, served on terrace with beautiful views and birdsong. Host Robin was friendly and very accommodating, literally went the extra mile to drop my forgotten power pack off at our church service on the Sunday morning! Friendly community pub reachable by riverside walk provided dinner on 2 nights. Beauty, comfort and generosity of spirit.
Stephen & Deborah, July 2023
Hidden Gem. Everything about this hotel is exquisite. The surroundings ooze luxury and comfort. We stayed in the beautiful, stately Wrekin Room with breathtaking views of The Wrekin, the River Severn and surrounding countryside. Everything in the room was top quality and designed for the comfort of the guest. Having read reviews before booking, our expectations were high, but this stunning house exceeded all of them. Robin and Louise are very friendly hosts who cannot do enough for their guests and are committed to making your stay memorable and relaxing. We truly could never run out of superlatives to describe our stay. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much.
Duane and Andrea, July 2023
Enjoyed a relaxing weekend in a beautiful house and gardens. Lovely location on the banks of the Severn. Great views of Wrekin. The Old Hall has beautiful gardens which guests can wander around. Very friendly owners who have beautifully decorated the bedroom (Powder room which overlooks front garden) and guest living room. A very nice breakfast. Great facilities in bedroom.
Rob and Diane, July 2023
From the minute we arrived to the minute we left, Robin made our stay at Cressage Old Hall as comfortable and welcoming as possible. The room was superb and the grounds magnificent. Altogether a fantastic experience.
Eileen and Peter, July 2023.
A perfect stay in a beautiful House. On arrival we received a warm welcome from the hosts Robin and Louise. One we had settled in the spacious Wrekin room aptly named with gorgeous views from the bay window over the River Severn to the Wrekin in the distance we went into the lounge were coffee and homemade cake was awaiting.
After a good nights rest, we had breakfast on the terrace followed by a stroll through the gardens, then down to the river and on through the woodland. After a day in the Shropshire countryside the garden gazebo was an ideal place to share a bottle of wine and watch the sun go down. Our 3-night break was wonderful.
David and Shelagh, July 2023
What a wonderful place to stay. We were in the Powder room which was luxurious and immaculately clean. The bed was lovely and comfortable, the décor beautiful, the en-suite shower perfect temperature. Everything in the room had been thought through to make the experience memorable. The grounds leading down to the River were stunning and the seating provided just right. The breakfast was delicious with a great selection to choose from. The hosts provided such care and attention to detail that we felt it was one of the best places we had ever stayed in. You must book....you will certainly feel very well looked after.
Paul and Laurita, July 2023
This is a lovely and spacious place to stay and Robin and Louise are gracious and attentive hosts. You are in the middle of all the beauty of the Shropshire Hills and if you don’t feel like traveling you can just bask in the beauty of the grounds of the B&B itself. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a nice vacation in the Shropshire Hills.
Francis & Connie, June 2023

Dave and Pat, June 2023
The room was light, spacious very well appointed and immaculately clean with a beautiful view from the window. The hosts did everything possible to make my stay enjoyable. Set in a beautiful part of the country waiting to be explored. I particularly enjoyed visiting the nurseries and gardens and the historic market towns in the locality.

Breakfast excellent couldn't fault one thing, location excellent.
Angie and Ray, June 2023
We recently spent two nights at Robin and Louise's beautiful home. Exquisite gardens run down to the River Severn, with views to the Wrekin beyond. Quite simply faultless in every respect.
Phil and Mo, June 2023
Robin & Louise were charming, helpful and accommodating hosts. Never intrusive. The location is exceptional on the banks of the Severn, and the gardens are extensive and beautiful. There are lots of seats set out in different locations to enjoy the view or shade should you require. A good pub a pleasant 40 min walk from the location. Good selection at breakfast and of great quality. Overall a very restful, recuperative stay with wonderful nature all around.
Andy and Clare, June 2023
This lovely riverside B&B-with-gardens was the making of a great holiday when we revisited the Ironbridge area. Robin and Louise are considerate hosts and their many thoughtful touches ensured a delightful 5-night break. Good roads and not much traffic helped us easily nip around places of interest: there are four castles (don't miss Stokesay and Chirk), three monastic ruins (Wenlock Priory the best), good gardens at Benthall Hall and Attingham Park, plus Roman Wroxeter, medieval Shrewsbury, the Ironbridge gorge, and over at Cosford the David Austin rose gardens with the RAF museum next door. Not far from the Old Hall we enjoyed meals at the Mytton & Mermaid (Atcham), The Horseshoes (Uckington), and with added views at The Woodbridge Inn (Coalport) and the Riverside Inn (Cound).
George and Gill, June 2023
The Old Hall could not be any better. We were welcomed by Robin when we arrived and made to feel at home immediately. A slice of cake and tea on the terrace was just what we needed. The lounge is a stunning place with wonderful views over the garden, river and Wrekin and has plenty of books to take you away from the view.
Robin and Louise were attentive but unobtrusive showing an interest in our plans and ourselves. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice and all very tasty indeed. Our room, the Powder Room, was exceptionally well appointed. Lovely bed, super decor, a fridge with milk and water and plenty of tea and proper coffee. Spacious en-suite too with lovely toiletries.
The grounds are extensive with formal garden areas as well as woods, pond and grass which lead down to the River Severn adds to the specialness of this place. All the time the Wrekin was keeping a careful watch over the place.
Philip and Susan, June 2023
The Old Hall is such a beautiful place to stay. Very relaxing and comfortable.Hosts Robin and Louise are so welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent and the views from the house and garden are outstanding. A real gem in the heart of Shropshire.
Sally and Simon, June 2023
We had a fabulous stay at the Old Hall in Cressage. Robin and Louise were wonderful hosts and the house is something very special. Gorgeous views, a garden that beats many National Trust ones we have visited, lovely food, comfortable and thoughtfully appointed rooms - it was all perfect. Highly recommended!
Lizzie and Dan, June 2023
A wonderfully relaxing few days in this superb country house which dates back to medieval times. Spectacular views over the Severn from the extensive beautifully laid out gardens. Plenty of paths to explore or places to sit quietly. The owners, Louise and Robin were perfect hosts , quietly unobtrusive, but helpful if needed and very knowledgeable about the surrounding area.
Joy and David, June 2023
The location, garden and grounds were exceptional. There was nothing I didn't like.
John and Gill, June 2023
This beautifully restored home which is now a B and B is located in the gorgeous English countryside. We stayed in the Wrekin room which provided a wonderful view out the bedroom window of the River Severn, the countryside and the Wrekin. While the outside maintains the flavor and character of a 1650 home, the rooms inside are more modern, spacious, luxurious, with comfortable beds and superb amenities. Breakfast offerings are numerous and everything we ate was delicious. The gardens and woodlands offer a myriad of places to walk or sit and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the locale. Hosts Robin and Louise couldn’t be more welcoming and amicable. We stayed 6 nights and were never at a loss as to visiting interesting places, many recommended by our hosts.
Lydia and Sandra, May 2023
Wunderschöner Blick, herrlicher Garten, gepflegtes Zimmer. Sehr freundlicher Gastgeber, gutes engl. Frühstück.
Jurgen and Anke, May 2023
You will not be disappointed if you book into Old Hall Cressage as it is one of the most beautiful spots I’ve ever seen. The location is stunning and the house is equally stunning. We took our two dogs with us and stayed in the Oak room which is huge and has the most comfortable bed with luxury bed linen. The hosts are really friendly and very accommodating and they have thought of everything to give you an amazing stay. The walks from the house are idyllic and you would be hard pressed to find somewhere as nice anywhere in the UK. A little piece of heaven!
Trish and Sean, May 2023
The Old hall is in fantastic location on a bend of the river Severn with great views from the extensive gardens. The hospitality is friendly, efficient and casual. The hosts are happy to offer recommendations for pubs, restaurants and nearby attractions. The standard of the room was exceptional. Very comfortable. The breakfast choices was varied and well prepared. Overall, we would strongly recommend staying here and well worth the price.

The ensuite bathroom was faultless with quality toiletries provided. The tea/coffee making facilities in the room were excellent including fresh milk in a mini fridge. The addition of fresh flowers in the room was a nice touch. The gardens were extensive and beautifully kept. The view from the gardens is stunning. WiFi was free. There was nothing that we didn't like. Everything worked well. The hosts supplied good local information on places to eat and leaflets on the various attractions in the local area.
Ian & Margaret, May 2023
Having travelled to many B&Bs over several years, we can honestly say this was by far the best! The rooms were beautifully decorated, and the gardens, fronting onto the river Severn are well worth making time to walk in. Several rooms in the property looked out over the river and the Wrekin. The accommodation had everything you would need and more. The plentiful Breakfast was served overlooking the grounds, prepared by Robin, who with Louise made us feel very welcome. We look forward to visiting again.
Viv and Bob. May 2023
This stunning b&b set in beautiful grounds is the epitome of tranquility. We stayed in the Wrekin room which in most accommodation description would be listed as a suite. It was large and well appointed with a glorious views over the gardens the river and the hill beyond. The super king bed was very comfortable. Lovely to have control and choice of using the heating and towel radiator. We were very well looked after by our amicable hosts in a lovely unobtrusive manner. Breakfast was really enjoyable and Robin cooks the most perfect poached eggs! We really enjoyed our trips to Shrewsbury RAF Cosford and The Black Country Living Museum. We will definitely be making a return visit.

There is a huge lounge tastefully decorated. The extensive gardens are meticulously cared for with an abundance of trees, shrubs and flowers. The very tasty breakfast has various choices to suit everyone. Old Hall was definitely a most enjoyable place to stay.

There are rare times while travelling when accommodation and its surrounds so exceed expectations, one has to check one’s senses. Such was our deliriously pleasant stay at Old Hall, Cressage. Everything perfect, with extraordinary hospitality in an astonishing home. Stay there !
Andrew & Deborah, April 2023
I stayed 3 nights as a solo traveller. Robin and Louise's home and garden are unique. There is a sense of place with views of the Wrekin and the river from the house. It is very clean, comfortable and peaceful. Not being from the area they were able to advise me on best routes, places to eat and lent me a couple of very good maps. They are lovely people and it is a special place to visit.
Shanti, April 2023
Beryl & myself had another very enjoyable stay at the Old Hall, seeing the grounds in spring trim was an added delight. The freedom to come & go & roam at our leisure, together with the comforts of the hall you allow us to benefit from, are much appreciated.

The house and gardens with the views of the river and the Wrekin are absolutely stunning. Robin and Louise are wonderful hosts, and you receive a warm and friendly welcome with tea and homemade cake. The house is really beautiful and their attention to detail is second to none. We stayed in the Powder Room, which was spacious, immaculate, comfortable and luxurious. Everything we could have needed had been meticulously thought out, from the comfortable beds to the lovely products supplied in the bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities, water and a fridge, and of course, a hairdryer!
Breakfasts were delicious, lots of choice, and beautifully presented. Robin and Louise were delightful, giving us helpful advice about the area, but allowing space for their guests to relax and feel totally at home. A very special place.

Easily the best b&b we have stayed in for years. Excellent breakfast in lovely dining room overlooking the river Severn, what more could you ask for! Very helpful staff.
Alan and Carol, March 2023
Old Hall Cressage was everything we look for in a BnB. Luxury boutique accommodation in an imposing old country home, ours was a tastefully decorated, spacious and comfortable room with a lovely view over the garden to the river. The hosts who are are discreet, professional, warm and obliging obviously care about every detail to make their guests feel welcome and comfortable. Coming from France we especially appreciated the full English breakfast.
Lorraine & Jean Christophe, March 2023
Truly amazing stay to celebrate my wife’s b’day. Stunning building and room with beautiful river and garden views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, complete with outstanding service by Robin and Louise. Highly recommend to anyone.
Steve and Rebecca, March 2023
Wow! What a beautiful house. We really enjoyed our stay, we booked 'The Wrekin Room' which had a fantastic view of the Wrekin and the River Severn from the window. Our room was great, really spacious, with a lovely comfy bed. We had a great night sleep, it was so quiet and peaceful! The owners had thought of everything, down to a cafetiere and fresh milk and two chocolates in the room. On arrival Robin the owner gave us a lovely warm welcome and very kindly offered us a cup of tea/coffee with some very tasty cake in the lounge, the chairs facing to overlook a beautiful garden and view of the Wrekin. It was so relaxing and scenic and a great start to our couple of days break away! The breakfast was great with a variety of cereal and fresh fruit, and a very tasty cooked breakfast made from local produce. Robin couldn't do enough for us, and was the perfect host. He was friendly and chatty and helpful, offering us a map for our walk up the Wrekin on one of the days. And advising us on local places to eat for an evening meal, which was great. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you Robin and Louise for letting us share your beautiful home for a couple of days. We'd love to stay again, perhaps in the summer to enjoy the lovely garden some more!
Rachel and Brett, March 2023
The Old Hall at Cressage is quite something, and nothing is too much trouble for delightful hosts Robin and Louise. The Oak Room is especially lovely - and as a bonus it's dog friendly! Breakfasts are excellent, the views stunning, and the accommodation sumptuous. With Acton Burnell, Wroxeter and the lovely historic town of Shrewsbury all close by to explore, it's the perfect place for a few days of rest, relaxation, and luxury.
Janice, Rob and Kika, March 2023
Booked two nights at Old Hall for a short break near Shrewsbury. We've never stayed in a place quite like this before. The driveway alone with the electric gates told us this was going to be something special and we were not disappointed
As we arrived at the front door, Robin the owner was there to greet us as we were still getting over all the oo’s and aah’s from just driving up to the house from the entrance gates.
The entrance hall of the house was the next thing to blow us away with its Tudor style beams and original staircase. Robin showed us into their beautiful drawing room and talked us through the amenities before taking us upstairs to our room which was The Wrekin Room. The room was huge and immaculate with a Queen size bed. Everything felt like new and the attention to detail was outstanding down to the chocolates and fridge with water.
The bed was perfect, we had a great night’s sleep and breakfast in the morning was everything we could have asked for. It was all local produce served in the conservatory overlook the rear gardens and the river Severn. The gardens were immaculate. If you get the chance, do take a walk around the various paths and ponds.
This has been one of our best weekend trips and having a place like Old Hall just topped the whole experience. This is no ordinary B&B, it’s something very special and memorable, Huge thanks to Robin and Louise, we will be back.
Kenny and Jean, March 2023
Everything was perfect for me and my wife!! Robin and louise are fantastic hosts and make you feel really welcome and at home ( we had our amazing breakfast in our slippers ???? ) We stayed in the oak room which had amazing wooden beams and had fabulous views of the river Severn and gardens!! Thank you so much Robin and Louise for our lovely stay we didn't want to leave and we would love to come back one day!!
Gary and Trudi, March 2023
Stunning location on banks of river severn. Perfectly cooked and presented full English breakfast.
Greg, March 2023
Robin and Louise were excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The room was excellent and stocked with everything we could need and was very clean. Breakfast choice was good and plentiful. The house itself is beautiful with stunning views and the availability of the Drawing Room to sit and relax was a great feature. There was nothing we didn't like. We would definitely stay there again if we are visiting the area again and would recommend the property.
John and Emma, March 2023
What a lovely place this is! On arrival, our hosts, Robin and Louise, greeted us with tea and cake in the elegant drawing room and provided us with plenty of information about the area. We stayed in the Wrekin room , luxurious with super comfy bed, overlooking the extensive gardens and stunning countryside. Breakfast was superb……..try Louise’s fruit compote…..in fact this is probably one of the nicest bed and breakfasts we have ever sumptuous stayed in. Everything here is top quality and you will be made to feel very welcome.
Dave and Chris, March 2023
We visited this wonderful house for the first time and had an amazing experience, the owners made us feel special and welcoming from the first moment we arrived. The owners are lovely kind people who make you feel part of the family and stay close enough to help but also find that magic space so you get all the freedom you want.
The house is truly incredible, we spent the whole visit walking around the house and grounds with our mouths wide open, it a real piece of art, completely stunning. I can’t recommend this place enough and no I’m not on the payroll its just a genuinely wonderful piece of heaven.
Eddie Carlin, November 2022
The house was fantastic, brilliant views, wonderful gardens, the room was exceptional. There was nothing we did not like from start to finish, we highly recommend this place to stay.
Karl & Lorraine, November 2022
We stayed 4 nights at Old Hall Cressage early november and we were absolutely amazed. It is not only a wonderful historic house but also our room was very spacious, well equipped down to details like fresh milk and perfectly clean. Breakfast was excellent (best poached eggs ever). The house and garden gives an amazing view to the river Severn and the Wrekin. Finally Robin & Louise were excellent hosts, very friendly and helpful..
Rolf & Sylvia, November 2022
Wow, what a fantastic stay. Three couples stayed here for two nights to celebrate a sixty birthday. The experience from the moment we arrived to when we left was five star amazing. Louise and Robin are the perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them. All three bedrooms are delightful, beautifully appointed and the attention to detail is outstanding. Breakfast was delicious and a game was produced for us to play in the sitting room in the evening, which was a lovely touch. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and hope to return again.
Sue and John Preston, November 2022
Everything was perfect. An oasis away from these troubled times. From the friendly welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Great breakfast, bacon and black pudding especially good. Lovely comfortable bed, large luxury shower with lovely toiletries, amazing tranquil views and freedom to wander through and appreciate the gardens and grounds. Thank you Louise and Robin for a memorable stay.
John & Claire, October 2022
Robin and Louise are fantastic attentive hosts and paid close attention to the details (e.g. fluffy towels in bathroom, real milk in fridge for teas). Made us feel very welcome. Large lovely room and bathroom with beautiful scenic views over the Severn. Breakfast was amazing as well with locally sourced bacon, black pudding and sausages. Robin was also very helpful with advice as to where to visit and how to get there. Had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay there again if we were in Shropshire.
Rob & Natasha, October 2022
We had a wonderful room in a beautiful home. Our hosts were very welcoming and extremely helpful. The views over the garden and river to the Wrekin were spectacular. This is the sort of place where it would be possible to simply stay all day and read in the drawing room and wander through the garden, recharging the batteries. However, it is also very well placed for visiting Shrewsbury, the roman town of Wroxeter and Iron Bridge, as well as walking. Breakfast choices were very good with breakfast cooked to order. Great local sausages and bacon! There are good options for lunch and dinner near by.
Alex & Geoffrey, October 2022
A great find - beautiful accommodation in the perfect location. A warm welcome, an impressive drive up to the property, a lovely room (The Powder Room), well equipped with quality finishing touches (proper coffee, robes and slippers, posh toiletries and comfortable bed) and of course, a delicious breakfast with a view.....all the reasons why we recommend Old Hall Cressage and hope to return. Thank you Robin and Louise.
Rachel, October 2022
We decided to visit Shropshire and set about finding somewhere to stay and boy did we find an absolute gem of a b and b. The Old Hall Cressage gave us everything we could have wished for and more. Robin and Louise were excellent hosts and suggested places to visit and places to eat.Their home is simply beautiful with amazing views .We stayed in The Powder Room which was simply beautiful with chilled bottles of water in the mini fridge plus tea and coffee making facilities. We loved our two days away and will certainly be returning here hopefully in the spring.
Steve & Anne Marie October 2022
A really nice grand property well looked after with nice furniture. It’s located next to the river with great views of the surrounding area. Breakfast was good and served by our hosts who had great knowledge of the area and it’s history. There’s also a nice country walk from the property to a local pub. We would happily stay again when in the area. Highly recommended.
Martin & Family, October 2022
I was very glad that I had booked to stay here; the hosts were very welcoming and the room was very well appointed with a very nice en-suite shower room. A comfortable bed and a quiet location led to some very good nights' sleep. The location meant that it was an easy drive to some nice towns and a number of English Heritage and National Trust properties. The breakfast offered was very good and set me up nicely for the day. It is a beautiful house with lovely views over the Severn towards the Wrekin. I would happily stay here again when visiting the area.
James, October 2022
Delightful three night stay in a lovely part of the world. Lots to do in an interesting area. Loved the upmarket ambience, comfort and location. Particularly liked the furniture and soft furnishings. Louise and Robin were excellent hosts.
Terry & Lyn, October 2022
Warm welcome from Robin and Louise with tea and homemade cake. Amazing location with views of the River Severn. Room spotless and bed extremely comfy . Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. Looking forward to our next visit Thanks.
Gary and Julie, October 2022
Lovely location, house and gardens. Host very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend or stay if in area again.
Nigel & Suzanne, October 2022
You would need to look very hard to find a more beautiful place to stay and such welcoming hosts Robin & Louise. You could spend your whole visit happily wandering in their gorgeous grounds and soaking up the glorious landscapes. Our dog Mojo loved her bed and treats too! We look forward to returning soon.
Steve & Lisa, October 2022
Old Hall is a beautiful home set in a wonderful and peaceful location. The views of the Wrekin and the meandering river Severn at the bottom of the NGS-standard gardens provide an impressive backdrop. Robin and Louise go above and beyond to ensure everything is perfect for their guests and our stay here exceeded all our expectations. We would highly recommend this property and can’t wait to return.
Ian & Helen, October 2022
Something very special. Highly recommended.
Doug & Pam, October 2022
The Old Hall Cressage is a peaceful gem. Really enjoyed our weekend stay, Louise and Robin are so welcoming, and can't do enough to make guests feel at home. On arrival we had delicious homemade cake, served in the beautiful lounge overlooking the gardens and river. Robin kindly gave me a lift to and from Much Wenlock as there were no buses running on a Sunday. Robin also suggested a great walk along the river and provided a very helpful route map. Exceeded our expectations! Our room was very spacious and spotlessly clean, quiet and extremely comfy. Breakfasts were delicious. Such a lovely, peaceful place. We can't wait to return.
Steve & Lesley, October 2022
One of the most memorable places I have ever stayed in. The room we stayed in was beautiful, luxurious and comfortable. The hosts were lovely and our view from the bedroom was simply magnificent. If you are lucky to see the sunrise from the bedroom window, you will never forget the colours. Top rate! Will recommend the Old Hall Cressage to my family and friends.
Sohila & Dennis, October 2022
The house is stunning, large gardens, very well decorated and appointed room and a wonderful grand drawing room to use as well. My favourite thing was the stunning view of the Severn, the Wrekin and gorgeous countryside over breakfast. Hosts were the perfect level of attentive and helpful but not intrusive.
Sarah & Chris, September 2022
From the moment we walked in, we felt like welcomed friends. Robin and Louise are excellent and kind innkeepers! We loved the house, the grounds, our comfy bed and bathroom! Robin and Louise offered us a lovely breakfast each morning, and accommodated us on our last day with an early departure. We cannot think of one negative thing! The Old Hall Cressage is superior!
Nick and Jenny, September 2022
A stunning B&B; luxuriously comfortable rooms, exceptionally delicious breakfasts, generous extras in our room such as still and sparkling glass bottled water, Molton Brown bathroom goodies, freshly ground coffee in the room. The beds and bedding were heaven. Everything had been thought of. Stunning location, overlooking the Severn and it’s own exquisite gardens, moments from beautiful Much Wenlock and many other places of interest. The owners were fantastic, both in communication before our stay, and during; attentive, generous with their time and incredibly welcoming.
Natalie, September 2022
From start to finish we were made to feel very comfortable and welcome. We stayed in the oak room, which was absolutely beautiful, and had amazing views of the river severn and wrekin. Our room was spotless, and very comfortable. We were given a tour of the house and shown around, and also given suggestions on local restaurants in the area. The gardens and surrounding area are huge, and have so many different things to look at and little surprises! Breakfast was also delicious!, and the area in which we were seated, also had amazing views, which we could sit and enjoy with a nice cup of coffee. We would definitely recommend this place to our family/friends, and will be back again in the future!
Kerry & Elliot, September 2022
Excellent and very enjoyable. The English breakfast I enjoyed was individually cooked & served by the proprietor in a small breakfast room designed for the purpose complete with a lovely view of the river & the Wrekin. There was a great deal I liked. The spaciousness of the guest rooms & the freedom to enjoy the extent of the Old Hall grounds.
Jim & Beryl, Seprember 2022
We stayed in the Oak Room with our two dogs. The room is huge with a beautiful vaulted ceiling. The views from the property and the room are breathtaking over the River. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed very comfortable with high quality bedding. The Molton Brown products in the bathroom were a special treat and the mini fridge had water and fresh milk to go with the tea and coffee facilities. A huge smart TV - just perfect. The gardens are amazing and we were given access to their private woods which are enclosed and safe for the dogs. There is then a one hour walk along the river which was just lovely. Superb breakfast and Louise and Robin are very welcoming and friendly. I can't fault our stay - it was a top notch, 5 star experience.
Lana & James, September 2022
Memorable in every way. From arrival to our departure our visit was perfect. Louise and Robin are the perfect hosts. Old Hall is a stunning tranquil property in a perfect location with stunning views. Our room was the Oak Room which was beautifully furnished and immaculately clean. Breakfast was first class. Louise and Robin invited the guests staying to meet in the drawing room in the evening the day after the Queen passed away to raise a glass of sparkling wine. What a lovely thoughtful gesture.
Jonathan & Anita, September 2022
Beautiful location and grounds. The house is lovely and in particular there is a wonderful large sitting room with a glorious outlook, in which to relax. We had a most delightful bedroom, again with beautiful views towards the Wrekin. The en suite was spotlessly clean and had a fabulous shower, but no bath. (Please note this was made clear on the website). Louise and Robin were both very friendly and helpful.
Barbara, September 2022
Wonderful. This is an exceptional property . The house is stunning and the 5 acres of grounds a joy. The hosts made our stay a pleasure.
Ian & Ann, September 2022
The most stunning location and wonderful property. If you want peace then this is the place. Many places to sit and enjoy the views of the river Severn. From the welcome from Robin and his wife Louise to the thoughtful touches in the room . Fresh flowers and molton brown products to comfortable bed , beautiful linen and so clean. Lovely breakfast and nothing too much trouble. This is an ideal location for places of interest too. Can't wait to return again.
Jenny & Steve, September 2022
What a stunning B&B, located on the banks of the River Seven this property lives up totally to its description and more. Fabulous interiors and great view from the Wrekin room. Our hosts Louise & Robin were charming and could not do enough for us. Within easy reach of lots of interesting local places, Highly recommend, will be going back.
Ian & Julie, September 2022
Robin and Louise made us very welcome in their lovely property overlooking a bend in the River Severn. The house and gardens are wonderful. We had a large bedroom which was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent and served in a room overlooking the garden. We recommend Old Hall to anyone looking for a b&b close to Shrewsbury. We shall certainly stay there again if we are in the vicinity.
Graham & Karen, September 2022
Robin and Louise are great hosts. They looked after us superbly, welcoming us with homemade cake, suggesting places to eat out and providing a delicious breakfast. We stayed in the Powder Room which was perfect for our needs. It is well equipped with toiletries, tea/coffee making facilities (including a mini-fridge with fresh milk), slippers, bath robes etc. The grounds are extensive and the use of the drawing room was an added bonus. We had a thoroughly relaxing time and would recommend it.
Ben & Vanessa, August 2022
Once we had seen the Old Hall and Manor online, we changed our holiday so we could stay there. It did not disappoint. As the gates open you catch site of the ancient manor house at the end of the drive. Our room was just perfect but the gardens! Acres of beautifully landscaped gardens going down to the banks of the river Severn overlooking the Wrekin took our breath away. The Old Hall is dog friendly so you can wander for hours taking in the lily ponds which used to be part of the medieval moat, the Japanese garden or you can sit and fish in the tranquil setting. We ate breakfast (full English) outside on the patio watching the river meander past every morning but one (it rained). Then sight seeing in Shrewsbury and then back for the evening. Eating cheese, biscuits and drinking a bottle of wine or three we sat until the sun went down and wondered over 2000 years of history.
Alan & Lynn, August 2022
Great and welcoming hosts. Room spotlessly clean and comfortable with all facilities and stunning views. Use of lounge, gorgeous garden and woods to wander in. Breakfast superb in lovely dining area with superb views. Definitely recommend.
Tony & Lyn, August 2022
Beautiful property and stunning countryside location by river. Only short distance from Shrewsbury and Telford. Robin and Louise are very hospitable and helpful. Lovely breakfast with lots of choice.
Matthew & Jurga, August 2022
We found The Old Hall on the internet and felt it would be just right for our stay in Shropshire. We were not disappointed . Exceptional in every respect , location , amazing setting, beautiful gardens overlooking the River Severn, house and rooms immaculate and delightful hosts Louise and Robin couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Five star plus plus !! We will return.
Doug & Val, August 2022
Good location & friendly knowledgeable hosts. Fabulous views, good size room & the entire place was very clean.
Diana, August 2022
A slice of paradise, excellence in all the details- the breakfast; only the best ingredients for a full English, through to a little torch in a top draw to help me find my way into the bathroom during the night! The hosts personally welcomed us and described relevant details of what we needed to know. Good recommendations about places to eat. A magnificent home and the view from where we had the breakfast was truly panoramic; very beautiful. The best I have seen anywhere.
David & Elizabeth, August 2022
Wow! What a lovely place to stay. Thank you Louise and Robin for letting us share your beautiful home while we were visiting friends and family in Shropshire.
The views, particularly of The Wrekin, some of which I remember from my childhood are amazing. A wonderful room and of course food too. You have thought of everything anyone could need including doggy biscuits and a dog bed, but were always there to help should anyone have needed anything. Two wonderful hosts. Keep up the good work. I’m sure we will see you again soon.
The Kimberley’s , August 2022
We found this B&B online and the pictures certainly looked inviting. We booked the Oak room which we found absolutely stunning..! The powder room was vacant for some of our stay, we therefore had the opportunity to view that room too, although a little smaller it’s of a similar standard. The house has extensive gardens to relax in or walk around. Louise & Robin, the owners, prepare a lovely fresh breakfast every morning and are so helpful and friendly. The village of Cressage is small and quiet and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. The overall impression is that it’s better than the online pictures, we’ve never stayed in a better B&B. We much prefer to stay in top quality B&Bs in preference to hotels and this one fits the bill nicely. Would we stay there again..? Absolutely..!
Alan & Margaret, August 2022
An oasis of calm in a busy schedule. historic building, relaxed genial hosts.
Tim & Jenny, July 2022
My husband and I made a first trip from Sweden to England with our two adult sons. We are so pleased with our three-day comfortable stay at the Old Hall – the house is tastefully furnished with much attention given to detail (a delicious treat, beautiful flower arrangements, Molton Brown toiletries) our rooms and the drawing room luxurious and the gardens are stunning.
Robin was such a considerate and knowledgeable host, and we were made to feel so welcome. The English breakfasts (deliciously made by our host himself with local produce) were served in the conservatory with incredible views of the River Severn and the Wrekin. There is much to see and do in the surrounding countryside. We highly recommend Old Hall and would love to return back.
Hélène and Per, July 2022
The breakfast was delicious, local produce was used. The fruit were sweet and eaten with some yoghurt. Local sausages & eggs etc. The taste & quality were excellent. The room was large with a window overlooking the grounds. The bathroom had a walk-in shower. Very well decorated. A gem for Shrewsbury.
Mark, July 2022
The breakfast was cooked to order by the owner and was just perfect. The ingredients were top quality local products and he informed us where we could purchase them if we wanted to. Robin and Louise were excellent hosts, providing a wealth of local knowledge, recommending places to eat (all of which proved to be excellent), giving directions to interesting places to visit. There were large bottles of water provided in our room and replenished regularly, along with the lovely chocolates. The bed linen was top quality and the bed was by far the best bed that we have ever slept in that hasn't been our own! The house itself is really beautiful, but this is eclipsed by the gorgeous gardens and the truly magnificent setting and views. I can't recommend this property highly enough and would definitely return if in the area.
George and Amanda, July 2022
Thank you for a lovely two days in your wonderful home, never stayed before in such a beautifully appointed home. Thank you both.
Alison and David, July 2022
Peaceful, extremely comfortable and stunning house and gardens! It was absolutely fabulous! Robin and Louise were fabulous hosts , the room was huge and really comfortable, breakfast lasted us all day! wouldn’t hesitate to recommend staying here . Beautiful views . A bit out of the way being 8 miles from Shrewsbury but exactly what I wanted. Thank you Robin and Louise.
Sheila and Tony, July 2022
Amazing house, rooms immaculate, views stunning and wonderful hosts, nothing too much trouble for them. Robin I know you have discovered that the Beatles stayed at the Old Hall in 1963 but are you sure another singer has not stayed with you as well, know who I mean, the one and only Tina Turner because your B and B is simply the best, better than all the rest.
As you know we are retuning very soon and to everybody who reads this review this is a must place to stay.
All the very best to you Robin and your wife Louise see you soon.
Mick and Roz, July 2022
Susana y Horacio, July 2022
What a find! Robin and Louise could not have been more welcoming to us and to our two dogs to the delightful Old Hall at Cressage. The Oak Room was spacious and comfortable as well as very dog friendly - Meg and Lola were welcomed by treats. The gardens are beautiful and the walk through the wood very peaceful. Great to be able to take the dogs there, as it is securely fenced and the girls weren't even distracted from their ball and stick hunts by the River Severn flowing gently past. Lovely, sunny mornings and leisurely breakfast on the patio with the dogs at our feet. Food beautifully cooked and presented by Robin and Louise. It was lovely to sit in the garden as dusk fell enjoying a bottle of wine whilst watching the sun go down. As regular visitors to Shrewsbury to see family, The Old Hall is definitely top of our list for places to stay. Thank you Robin and Louise
Marcia and Dennis, June 2022
If you want to be lord of the manor for the weekend this has to be on your list ….this property has been totally restored to the highest of standards 10 out of 10. The location and its class perfect for relaxation and calm.
Des and Molly, June 2022
A lovely break in wonderful surroundings. Breakfast was generous and very good. our hosts were very welcoming. A lovely relaxing stay.
Andrew and Viv, June 2022
Old Hall Cressage is superb throughout in every way. We received the warmest of welcomes from Robin and Louise with tea and delicious homemade cake. Breakfast is freshly prepared and equally delicious.During our stay nothing was too much trouble, so kind, thoughtful and helpful with walks, maps places to eat etc.We stayed in the Powder Room which is spotlessly clean with the finest quality decor, bed, linens, toiletries, towels large walk in shower and extremely well thought out for guests'comfort and convenience. The hotel is set in acres of landscaped gardens which stretch down to the river Severn with fantastic views over to the Wrekin, they even have their own woodland! This B&B is fabulous, luxury in a most beautiful setting.
Elizabeth and Steve, June 2022
When we arrived Robin and Louise welcomed us and we’re so friendly and helpful. And would definitely recommend anyone to stay as the five nights we stayed were perfect and the breakfast was amazing, the best ever. As for the property and the view’s are stunning. We will definitely be going back again. Everything was perfect. Many thanks.
Dave and Sharon, June 2022
We booked a break at the Old Hall in Shropshire on impulse and what a find. It is the most comfortable and welcoming place to stay and an excellent location for exploring this overlooked and very beautiful corner of England. Our room had a fabulous view of the Severn and the Wrekin and was exceptionally comfortable. Delicious breakfasts and lots of thoughtful extras including quality magazines and history books to browse in the guest drawing room. Robin and Louise are wonderful hosts and we gratefully followed all of their excellent suggestions for places to visit and eat out. Top place to stay, we will be back.
Carolyn and Rob, June 2022
Perfect selection, with the amazing view over the Severn and The Wrekin. The only negative was having to leave.
Paul, June 2022
We have just returned from a most relaxing stay at The Old Hall. Louise and Robin made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. We stayed in the Wrekin room which was beautiful and comfortable with a breathtaking view. Breakfast was delicious with a wide choice of food including perfectly cooked poached eggs (thanks Robin!)
Louise’s delicious cake deserves a mention too! We would not hesitate to return.
Ruth and Stephen, May 2022
We spent two lovely nights of our vacation in England at this immaculate, comfortable, well-appointed B&B with great hosts who went out of their way to provide thoughtful touches and be accommodating to our desires. They upgraded us to their best room, The Wrekin, where we overlooked the River Severn and their back terrace, a lovely place to sit of an evening and eat or just enjoy the view. The room had all the amenities: a mini-fridge, a powerful shower with an additional hand-held head for top to bottom rinsing, warmed towels, a huge supportive but soft bed with fluffy comforter, and lots of space to accommodate our belongings. The tasty breakfast was served in a glass conservatory, and nearby was a lovely sitting room to use. We recommend this B&B unreservedly.
Cynthia and David, May 2022
If you are looking for a luxurious place to stay, of exceptional quality, in an outstanding location and with the most welcoming of hosts, then The Old Hall is it. Without question it is the best B&B in Shropshire, if not anywhere, that we have ever stayed in. Thank you to our hosts Robin and Louise - simply superb!
Mark & Pam, April 2022
No ordinary B&B! This was out second visit to Old hall, and it was even better than last time, if possible.
We bring our dog, and the dog friendly, Oak room, is enormous, providing our dog with a lovely bed and treats as well as the most comfortable bed for us, fresh flowers and chocolates!
The spacious shower room is modern with plenty of hot water, Molton Brown toiletries and fluffy towels.
Breakfast is delicious and Robin and Louise will try to accommodate any dietary needs. One of us is gluten intolerant. We recommend the Compote, and Wenlock bacon and sausages in particular! The area is rich in food variety- a foodies paradise.
The whole property has been restored to a high level, with furnishings and art works that are in keeping with its ambiance and architectural features. It's the kind of place you see in a glossy magazine! There is the most elegant sitting room, where tea and gorgeous orange cake was served whilst sat looking over the fantastic garden towards The Wrekin. Not a bad way to start the break away.
The area is very beautiful with plenty of walks and landscpes that inspire. Louise's garden is a joy to tour, with a variety of garden spaces and ideas lovingly laid out and cared for.
To top it all Robin and Louise are wonderful hosts, they couldn't be more helpful, friendly and kind.
We hope to return.....
Christania Corbett, April 2022
Last week, we spent a lovely midweek in The Old Hall Cressage B & B ! Thank you Louise & Robin, for being so kind and thoughtful!! For example: We had problems with the Covid tests to send through, but our landlord was willing to sort that out for us!
Beside the excellent service, we enjoyed the accommodation, the lovely room and the astonishing view! And the silence………we didn’t hear one car! Everything was just perfect and we felt living as a Queen, for a reasonable price. This is far more than a normal B& B!
Thanks again Louise & Robin, we can’t wait to come again!
Meike and Warrie, November 2021
No ordinary B&B! Felt we in a Five star hotel from the wonderful comfortable bed, the spacious room and facilities, the beautiful location and the helpful and friendly owners.
We took our dog, who is diabetic, and Robin and Louise were so obliging in providing us with somewhere to store the cansulin to furnishing him with a bed as large and comfortable as our own.
Breakfast was excellent - especially the Compote.
The gardens around the hall are a gardeners delight to explore, and our dog loved exploring the wooded areas. We hope to visit again!
Christania Corbett, November 2021
After a day exploring the many attractions of the county town of Shrewsbury we drove a few miles to the village of Cressage and to the marvellous Old Hall. It must be one of the most luxurious B&B’s anywhere. The welcome was as good as the wonderfully restored and appointed Hall. What could be better after our exploring than a pot of tea, home made orange cake and a view over lovely gardens to the River Severn below and the countryside beyond. Perfect. We are moving on from The Old Hall, Cressage B&B today after a breakfast that more than matched the welcome and luxurious surroundings.
Norman and Clive, October 2021
The Old Hall is superb! Our room was lovely with magnificent views of the Wrekin and the River Severn. It was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean with good quality linen and towels. The breakfast was delicious and well-cooked and presented, with a good choice of items on the menu. Robin and Louise were very welcoming and could not have been more helpful. They lent us maps and guides and gave us good advice on routes for the (long!) walks which we did from the house. The Old Hall is a beautiful house with a long history and we highly recommend it. We shall definitely stay there again.
Richard and Jenny, September 2021
We were badly in need of a restful break when we arrived at The Old Hall Cressage to a warm welcome and a beautiful, most comfortable room. We stayed four nights in the Wrekin room and became increasingly appreciative of how thoughtfully the room has been arranged, how beautiful the view over the Severn and surrounding countryside was and how comfortable we felt. In this attractive and interesting house the rooms all had charming arrangements of garden flowers from the extensive and wonderful grounds. Breakfasts were delicious, various options were all beautifully cooked. Louise and Robin were ideal hosts in their own home, unfailingly welcoming, helpful and relaxed but unobtrusive. We do hope that we have another opportunity to stay at The Old Hall, it was a perfect treat
David and Susan, September 2021
The Old Hall is a true country house with an extensive beautiful garden running down to the River Severn. It has its own woodland, and a marvellous view of the Wrekin. Robin and Louise were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. They supplied maps and walking guides; and gave us ideas of particular walks, pubs and restaurants, and other local information. They left no stone unturned, served a delicious breakfast, and gave us homemade cake in the afternoon. Robin has even written a booklet on the history of the Old Hall back to the Norman Conquest, which we read while sitting in their glorious guest drawing-room.
John & Claire, September 2021
Four of us stayed at the Old Hall recently for a special trip down memory lane. It was a delight in every respect. Beautifully modernized rooms and public area, the grounds and views are spectacular and hosts Robin and Louise could not be more welcoming to their beautiful home. Breakfast was a delight too! I really could not fault our stay in any way.
Michael Richings, Seprember 2021
Great place to stay. Looking forward to returning soon. Robin and Louise were so helpful. The rooms and house is so nice you cannot ask for more. It was better than staying in a hotel. Location is great with great views of the surrounding area. See you soon.
Ian and Ercole, September 2021
We had a glorious long weekend at the Old Hall, a fascinating house and a lovely home. The Wrekin room and the drawing room are so beautifully presented and the garden is fantastic with spectacular views around every corner. Louise's home-made cake was delicious, and chocolates and fresh milk in the fridge each day was a lovely touch. Robin and Louise were so welcoming and friendly, they made us feel like we were house guests. Thank you for a lovely stay, you have created a truly special place and we'll certainly be back when we get the chance

We had a wonderful two night stay at The Old Hall. The Wrekin Room was really well equipped and we had everything we needed. Breakfast was also brilliant with a great choice of food. The Old Hall is a fantastic building in a truly breathtaking garden, but what really makes The Old Hall special is Robin and Louise. Nothing was too much trouble and they just go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay. Would highly recommend and we are already looking for a reason to come back and stay again.

The impressive view of the Old Hall was matched by the welcome from our congenial hosts, inviting us to tea and cake. The comfortable guest lounge has has fine furnishings, books and pictures. The Wrekin bedroom has a view across the garden and the river, to the Wrekin Hill. Tea and coffee with the refinement of a jug of milk within. Robin and Louise are courteously friendly and helpful with their advice about Shropshire.

This is a truly lovely place to stay. The house is in a stunning location overlooking the River Severn with extensive grounds to wander through. The welcome from Robin and Louise was warm and friendly and we were offered tea and cake - sadly we’d just had tea at a friend’s house so had to pass on that! The bedroom was stylish and comfortable with everything you could possibly need for a perfect overnight stay provided. Breakfast was in the conservatory overlooking the gardens and was nicely presented with a great choice. There is use of a beautiful lounge if you want to sit and read or just chill. Would heartily recommend this place and will definitely be back.

If serenity is defined as the quality of being peaceful and calm then the Old Hall Cressage takes you there. This house and its owners are unrivalled in their wonderful approach and ability to deliver what can only be described as one of the best bed and breakfast accommodations in the country.
The Hall is stunningly beautiful with period features and wonderful gardens, which all come as part of the stay as guests are welcome to stroll around the gardens and wooded locations. The rooms are fresh and immaculate in both décor and cleanliness with fabulous views through to the river Severn and the front laws and borders.
The breakfasts were of top quality, cooked using local produce and fresh variety in the menu, the offer of tea and cake in the afternoon was also much appreciated.
Chances of finding such a house and accommodation is either down to extremely assiduous trawling or mere serendipity…do not miss out on this one. We will not, and will certainly be returning, hopefully on several occasions with family and friends.
