Breakfast is one of the most essential elements of your stay. We have a dedicated Breakfast Conservatory with a breathtaking view over the River Severn to The Wrekin. We offer a Full English breakfast, a Continental Breakfast and a Vegetarian Breakfast. Living in an area full of award winning butchers and farm shops, we source all of our fresh ingredients from high quality local sources.
Breakfast is served daily from 8.00 to 9.30, but we are happy to try and accommodate your needs. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements.
But a stay at The Old Hall is about so much more than just a good night’s sleep and a great breakfast. We’ll mention the gardens and woodlands again, but there is also the light filled Adams style Drawing Room, a lovely room in which to while away a few hours, and open to guests at all times. There are sofas in front of the fire, and chairs in the bay window overlooking the river. There is a desk which overlooks the Lily Pond, and books and magazines. Its also a great place for a game of cards or choose from a variety of board games. As with all the rooms, there is WiFi.
Back to the mature garden-all 3 acres of them with Japanese and Cornish themes, and so many areas to wander through or sit and contemplate life. As well as the stunning views across the River Severn to The Wrekin, there are five acres of woodland walks. For those with a more competitive nature, there is a giant chessboard permanently set for the next match, and croquet can be enjoyed on the lawn overlooking the river.
In the Portico there are umbrellas and cold weather throws. You can also change walking boots there, or just sit undercover watching the weather.
We have fishing rights to approximately 500 meters of river bank. You are welcome to bring your fishing equipment (you will need a fishing licence).
To more practical matters:
With just three letting bedrooms, a dedicated guest reception room and breakfast room,we can keep guest areas clean on a regular basis. We have large gardens and woods to enjoy so keeping distance from other guests is relatively easy. We also occupy a separate part of the house so mixing is minimised.
We want you to enjoy your stay with us, so although there will be some changes we will be keeping things as normal as we possibly can. We have reconfigured the conservatory breakfast room to create at least a metre between tables and limited it to a total of four people. We will where possible stagger breakfast times to enable better social distancing. In the summer months (dependent on the weather!) you can also have breakfast on the terrace.
To facilitate contact tracing, we will ask all guests to complete the guest registration form on arrival and we will retain your contact details on our booking database.
During your stay
If you need assistance with luggage please let us know on arrival and we will help you with it in a safe way.
We have revised our breakfast offering as follows, so please note that it may take a little longer than usual:
We will only set tables as you arrive for breakfast.
Breakfast buffet items e.g., cereals and yoghurt will be provided as individual portions and served to your table.
Milk, juice, jams and condiments will be served in individual containers on your table.
We would ask that you remain flexible regarding housekeeping – we will replace dirty cups etc… and remove rubbish, but we will only service your room if you want us to (we will check with you at breakfast).
We have plentiful supplies of soap and handwash, however if you would prefer to use antibacterial hand gel then please bring some with you.
We will wear masks during breakfast service and if we have to go into your room during your stay (to collect rubbish etc...). We ask that you wear a face covering in communal areas (except when eating or drinking) in line with government guidance.
It may be necessary to make a late change of room for your stay if we are required to close a room for a period of time.
After your stay
Our only request after you leave is that you let us know immediately if you have to self-isolate within 2 weeks of leaving. This will enable us to manage communications with contact tracers.
Prices shown are per room per night, based on a two night minimum stay and two people sharing and include a full cooked breakfast. During quieter times we may be able to offer single night accommodation and a small discount for single occupancy. Please call us to to check. For more booking information please see our terms and conditions at the bottom of our Contact page.
We have secure gated parking on site.
Unless otherwise agreed your room will be ready for your arrival between 4pm and 7pm. If you plan to arrive earlier or later, please let us know in advance so that we can make sure we are here to greet you. Please contact us if you are likely to be delayed due to traffic etc. Check out is 10.30 am on the day of departure.
We have our own dogs, who are friendly but will try and keep out of your way while you enjoy your stay with us. They have a separate section of the garden of their own to enjoy. We are happy to welcome one or two well behaved house trained dogs, in our dog friendly Oak Room. We do request that dogs are not allowed in the Drawing Room or Breakfast Conservatory, and should not be left unattended in the Oak Room. For more information please see our Terms and Conditions.
We are not licensed to sell or serve alcohol but if you would like to enjoy your favourite tipple during your stay, you are more than welcome to bring your own-we provide corkscrews, bottle openers and glasses in all rooms. Drinks can be chilled in the mini fridge in your room and enjoyed in the guest areas and the garden.
We have a strictly No Smoking policy in the house.
We regret that we are unable to take guests under the age of 16.
Due to its age and setting, the house and grounds have many different levels and uneven surfaces. It is therefore not suitable for the less able.
Our full terms and conditions can be found at the bottom of our Contact Page.
