As well as Attingham, there are many National Trust properties within a 45 minutes drive of the Old Hall. Some of our closest include Sunnycroft, Benthall Hall & Morville (all less than a 20 minute drive). Slightly further afield (no more than 45 minutes) are Wightwick, Morville, Moseley Old Hall, Kinver Edge and Rock Houses, Powis Castle & Chirk Castle.

The Quarry Park hosts a welcome return after two years of virtual reality shows, to the live world famous Shrewsbury Flower Show on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th August. Apart from top floral exhibits from all over the UK, the show really does have something for everyone. The arena has a packed agenda with top grade show jumping, fun events, music, military bands and closes each night with a show stopping firework display set to music. The lecture marquee has a varied programme of lectures and demonstrations with top tips from well known horticulturists and the Show's own Gardeners' Question time. The August Bank Holiday weekend has the annual Shrewsbury Steam Rally which attracts entrants from all over the UK. www.shrewsburysteamrally.co.uk
Also on the bank holiday weekend is the Telford Ballon Fiesta (Friday 27th through to Sunday 29th August). An opportunty to see a wide range of hot air balloons. Dependent on the wind direction you can also see from the Old Hall gardens. www.telfordtownpark.co.uk
Shrewsbury Proms in the Park is being held at the West Midlands showground on Saturday 10th September. It will feature classics from 'Last Night of the proms' performed by the opera singer Holly Teague & the 40 piece Midlands Proms Orchestra. www.theatresevern.co.uk
